The National Flight of the Monarch Day – August 20, 2022
This Saturday, August 20th, is the National Flight of the Monarch Day in Canada. Find a local organization to celebrate monarch butterflies and their epic southbound journey, raise awareness, and help to save and protect this endangered species.
In Toronto and York Region events will be held at Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, among other locations.
In July this year, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature added the monarch butterfly to its “red list” of threatened species, only two steps from extinct!
In 2016, the Canadian Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife listed monarch butterflies as endangered.
